Un weekend à La Baule #1

 photo ba34_zps361601bf.jpg
2010 : Bruxelles
2011 : Florence
2012 : Berlin (again)
2013 : Normandie (Deauville, Trouville, Honfleur)
Merci ♥

Our annual ritual is quite simple. Each February, on the occasion of the birthday of my boyfriend, I organize a surprise weekend to celebrate it elsewhere.
This year, I chose La Baule. It’s 5 hours far from Paris (break included), and we arrived on Friday night under the biggest storm I’ve ever seen. Wind and rain drumming on the shutters of Castel Marie Louise. I have to admit it helped us to fall asleep in no time. Once again, a charming (but luxurious and conveniently located ) hotel found on Voyage Privé. We stayed in a « Deluxe sea » room, overlooking the raging ocean and trees shaken by the storm.
The next morning, discovery of our window view from our room, breakfast buffet and meeting Mr. Director, a charming man, full of good advice about the area.
We took advantage of complimentary bicycle hire by the hotel to discover the Baule, Pornichet and Le Pouliguen, under a changing sky. Big beautiful sun or heavy rain : this day was unbelievable ! Arrived on the Côté Sauvage in Le Pouliguen, the wind coming off the ocean was so violent that we could not move forward on our bikes… U-turn !
I loved rediscovering this corner of France where I had been on holiday with my parents during the summer, when I was 19 or 20. Having seen La Baule in the middle of July, with its crowded beach and this time wandering in an almost deserted town with his empty beach where we were alone… That’s quite a change of scenery but we loved this calm « pause » in our daily eventful Parisian life.
I’ll share the other part of our weekend in a future article… I hope you like this one ? If you do, please don’t forget to click in the « LOVE » box just below my article. Thank you
